With the arrival of heat and good weather, what better is to take a good dip in the pool, enjoy watching the children play or sit on the edge with your feet in the pool at midnight while you have a drink?

In order to enjoy all these pleasures, we must first tune our pool after the period of hibernation.

Here are some simple tips to have your pool ready:

1.  Cleaning

If your pool has been covered during the winter, remove the protective tarp and then clean it with a brush and dry it before storing it. Also clean the beach from the inside out, and the mark that has been on the water line.

Take advantage and clean the skimmers, overflow channels (if you have an infinity pool), and all the accessories that your pool may have.

2. Equipment check

Enter the machine room and move all the valves, check the electrical panel, the pump, clean the basket of the pump pre-filter, and other items that you have in the machine room.

Before restarting the filtration system, check the closing of the pump, the filter covers and the purges and, if necessary, grease the joints.

Check that the water level is optimal (must reach the ¾ of the skimmers), otherwise fill it.

Is it necessary to change the filter medium (sand, cartridge, glass, etc.) or add more? In the case of sand filters such as ESPA filters, it is advisable to change it every 3 years or, when it has lost filtering capabilities.

ESPA pumps do not require any maintenance, even so it does not hurt to check the correct operation and been together with the other equipment in your pool.

To eliminate the impurities collected in the filter, a backwash must be done, it consists of putting the filter lever in backwash mode, to reverse the order of the circuit and thus wash it inside. Subsequently, before going into filtration mode, you should perform a rinsing of the system.

Check and re-program if necessary the programming clock, to establish the duration of the filtration of your pool.

3.  Water treatment

First, analyze the pH of the water in your pool, remember that it should be between 7.2 and 7.6, and other chemical parameters of water quality, to avoid possible irritations in eyes and skin, and reduce the consumption of water. chlorine or other disinfectant chemicals.

The usual, cheaper and with less environmental impact is to reuse the water of last summer and in case the parameters of water quality are abnormal, to ensure a clear and perfect water you should first perform a shock chlorination with the pump in motion to ensure a homogeneous distribution. Once chlorination is applied and before the first bath, check again that all the parameters are correct.

And last and most importantly, enjoy a good and refreshing bath!
